You make me laugh as we just cleaned out our garage as well, and that was definitely a test of the strength of our marriage too. Funny how one woman’s junk is another man’s treasure and vice versa. Like you, we wondered how on earth we accumulated so much junk, but over a 25 year span. We mostly laughed at what we found but also realized that some things were harder for one of us to part with than the other. Which also speaks to cleaning out the junk from marriage. Even if it works for you, if it is not honoring to God, it needs to be trashed. Even if it worked 10 years ago, like your bikes, if it isn’t being put to good use now, it needs to be gotten rid of. So many patterns we cling to in our marriages are not God honoring or just don’t work anymore. Yet in our stubbornness we cling to them. God has so much more for us. Thanks for sharing and using your great writing skills to communicate hard truth!
